It became normality for new professions to emerge in the field of translation and interpreting. One may think that a translator doesn’t need to be reinvented and a translator
will never exhaust its definition or become something else. However, the reality or the permanently changing paradigm of the world invented the lawyer-linguist (LL). Therefore,
the lawyer-linguist is the result of development (in any field) that changes the traditional understanding of the profession. As defined in dictionaries and as reported in an article
from the European Parliament a lawyer-linguist is a “lawyer with a feel for language”.
Natasa Tsokkou is a qualified lawyer with 17 years of experience in legal and pharmaceutical/clinical-trials translation. Having worked as a Court Interpreter -Translator for ten years her passion for law led her to start her legal studies at the age of 35 with 2 kids and an infant. However, her age, family and social constraints never pulled herback from pursuing her dream, and her passion and determination drove her to success.She graduated in 2022 from Canterbury Christ Church University with First Class Honors and was awarded for her highest performance in her class. She was admitted to the Bar in 2023 after completing her legal traineeship.
She has also received a Chartered Linguist qualification from the Chartered Institute of Linguists of the UK.
Over the years she has built strong relationships with companies all over the world,especially in the US and UK market but also with companies in other countries. Her familiarity with corporate, commercial, employment and criminal law is evident from herhigh performance during her studies.
She is proficient in English (UK and US) and company jargon and her expertise along with her determination to produce and deliver quality resultsgive her the ability to constantly adopt and develop. She is also highly computer literate and possesses excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and beyond. She has strong interpersonal and organizational skills, professional discipline, and willingness toassume responsibility.
